Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

LEGACY @ manor

To the unenlightened, Bournemouth may conjure up images of OAPs and a struggling football team, but it also houses one of the UK's brightest clubbing gems. To be fair, the town has some excellent gigs (Legacy, at the Manor, and the Showbar, to name but two), yet Slinky manages to fill its awesome 2,000 capacity every weekend, so they must be doing something right.

There's definitely safety in numbers here, as the promoters pull in big- name spinners every weekend. It attracts all the bright young things from miles around who are eager to dance, drink and snog the night away. Danny Rampling ripped it up last week with the kind of funky set that blew up big time on the sunshine island this summer. Guy Ornadel and Steve Lawler take charge tonight.

The house tunes in the main room keep the bpm high and the throbbing crowd happy until the venue closes down and kicks out at 3am. I mustn't complain - one club in Cornwall switched off the juice at an embarrassing "yes mum, I'm home already" 12.30am. I suppose those OAPs need their sleep!

Fridays, 570 Christchurch Road (01202 399944) 9.30pm-3am, pounds 5-pounds 7

FRISKY @ ministry of sound

Saturday night at this venue has long been the stuff of legends, but Friday night is rapidly providing more surprises for the discerning clubber. The bass-driven house is served up a little harder with a sparse garnish of vocals. Like it or loathe it, MoS has a bangin' sound system, and, as ever, they procure a smart and cosmopolitan crowd who aren't afraid to work hard on the dance floor. DJ Heaven, John Kelly, Craig Campbell and Paul Jackson provide the tunes.

ROTATION @ subterania

Rotation is attracting a loyal following down to Ladbroke Grove every Friday, so you can be sure of a good night. Subterania, while an impressive venue, seems to break club events that aren't up to the job. Rotation offers great value for money, with no loss of integrity on the music front. T-Money, Dodge, Femi Fem and Ronnie Herrel control the decks this Friday, serving up phat R'n'B, hip-hop and rare classics. Well worth a visit.

Fridays, Acklam Rd, London W1 (0181-960 4590) 10pm-3.30am, pounds 8
