This world music, dance and performance festival celebrates Spitalfields' rich mix of communities with everything from Irish and salsa dance classes to henna tattooing (above) and rickshaw rides. Special children's activities include the wonderful Mr Mojo with his "mojobics", a combination of music and dance.
Armed Forces Weekend
Royal Airforce Museum, Hendon (0181-205 2266) today and tomorrow, free
Children can have a go at a mini assault course, take part in paintball, and jump from a parachute tower at this action-packed event. Other entertainment includes an RAF Falcons parachute display team and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
CBBC Proms in the Park
Hyde Park (0171-589 8212) tomorrow 3.30-5.30pm (gates open 2pm), adults pounds 10, children pounds 6
Hosted by Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill, the aim of this concert is to introduce a younger audience to classical music. To zap it up a bit, S Club 7 will perform some numbers from the Fifties (probably before their parents were even born!) and an appearance by Mr Blobby.
Archaeology Weekend
Corfe Castle, Nr Wareham, Dorset (01929 481294) today and tomorrow 11am- 4.30pm, adults pounds 4, children pounds 2, National Trust members free
Children can have a go in a mock-excavation pit, try on medieval costumes and armour and join in spinning and weaving workshops in the grounds of this majestic castle. There will also be re-enactments courtesy of the English Civil War Society. The Swanage Folk Festival (01929 422885) which has a whole programme of children's events this weekend.
Duxford Air Show
Duxford, Cambridge (01223 835000) tomorrow 9am-4.30pm, flying from 2pm, adults pounds 15, children free
If you have a child who knows their Spitfires (above) from their Sopwiths this is probably a must - albeit a pretty expensive one. The event celebrates a century of air power from the earliest days of military aviation to the supersonic flying machines of today.
Foxwood Picnic

An afternoon of fun and games on a theme of the Foxwood children's books - animal tales written by Cynthia and Brian Patterson - is on offer in the grounds of this National Trust house. There will be a mystery trail around the gardens. NS
