Camley Street Natural Park Festival

Behind King's Cross Station may not seem the obvious place for a natural oasis but it's been here for 15 years. There will be live music, stalls and canal boat trips to raise money for the London Wildlife Trust that runs it.

The Duke of Wellington's palace houses his fabulous collection of paintings, including works by Goya and Rubens, as well as silver, porcelain and furniture (above). To celebrate National Museums Week the house is running a free trail for families with lots of activities and quizzes, plus next week it's free to get in on Wednesday, for other National Museums Week activities call 01795 414731 (9am-5.30pm).

The Giant 75th Birthday Ramble

If you go down to the woods tomorrow you'll meet plenty of characters who used this medieval royal hunting forest from Norman times to the present day. There will also be badge making and drawing.

Victorian Street Games

This museum has plenty to keep children amused whatever the weather. To celebrate Museums Week they are inviting "children up to 100" to take part in everything from hopscotch to skipping.

Out of the Wood Show

This huge event devoted to all things wooden will include live music and clog dancing. The ticket price includes entry to the museum which includes a working watermill.

Steam & Diesel Gala

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, New Romney Station, Kent (01797 362353) tomorrow, first train 9.25am, last train 6.00pm, adults pounds 8.90, children pounds 4.45 (return fares).

This unique seaside railway (above) is popular with kids as the trains are just a third full size. New Romney Station will also have stalls plus there is a gift shop, a cafe, a children's playground and a Toy and Model Museum. NS
