Chinese New Year Celebration

As a foretaste to London's celebrations over the weekend of 20 February, the Barbican is running a paper-cutting workshop under artist Gu Xiao Lan, whose watercolour exhibition is showing at the Centre. Suitable for children aged five and over.

The Blackheath Halls kicks off its spring programme of Saturday afternoon children's theatre with a mixture of slapstick, magic and juggling. Suitable for children aged from three to seven.

Grimaldi Service

Clowns from all over the world will be giving thanks for the life of Joseph Grimaldi (1778-1837), "the father of modern clowns" (below). After the service there will be children's entertainment in Holy Trinity Primary School.

The City Art Gallery's art club for seven-to-13-year-olds (above) begins another series of activities today; another starts on 6 March.

Birds and Beasts Storytelling

Birds and beasts are the subject of this month's storytelling session for all the family at this municipal gallery. While you're there, you can also check out "Head First", a travelling exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery.
