This weekend is one where you won't be stuck for somewhere to take the kids as nearly every museum, historic home and attraction has special events organised. At the Imperial War Museum there's a special trail around the latest exhibition ("From the Bomb to the Beatles") which will feature children's TV characters from the Forties to the Sixties, including Bill and Ben, and Muffin the Mule. There are free chocolate mini eggs for everyone. Children no longer have to pay to get in to the museum, and it's free to everyone after 4.30pm.
Sport for Kings

You can watch and even join in the games of the Tudor court when this royal palace recreates life in the time of Henry VIII, with everything from fencing and real tennis to skittles and quoits (above).

Great Butser Egg Roll

This Hampshire park will be holding egg-decorating workshops in the morning, followed by a procession, with music, to the slopes of Butser Hill, where there will be egg-rolling competitions in the afternoon.
Easter Celebrations

This 15th-century moated castle is putting on an Easter egg hunt and an Easter bonnet competition as well a host of other activities.
Swallows and Amazons Trail
Brownsea Island, Poole, Dorset (01202 707744) tomorrow, 10am-3pm, adults pounds 2.50, children pounds 1.30
This 500-acre island in Poole Harbour organises an annual Easter egg trail. This year the theme is "Swallows and Amazons" and children are invited to dress up as pirates and smugglers. To get to the island you can catch a boat from Poole Quay or Sandbanks from 10am (adults pounds 4, children pounds 3).
Celebration of Easter

The Easter celebrations here are on a horticultural theme (below). Children can make and plant paper flowers, and make giant insects and ladybirds, which they can stick on a giant mural. There will also be Punch and Judy shows. NS
