As part of "Cuba Presente", the biggest ever celebration of Cuban arts in the UK (above), there will be free music and dance all this weekend in the Barbican foyer plus story-telling and exhibitions. There will also be numerous dance and art workshops for all ages.

Barking Festival

Musicians and entertainers will be taking to the streets of Barking as the town celebrates its annual festival with a village-style fete on the banks of the River Roding. Other attractions include bouncy castles, fairground rides, and puppets.

International Jazz Day

Morden Park, Morden, Surrey (0171-223 6369) today 2-8pm, free

The ninth annual Jazz Day is being celebrated with performances all over the UK including this event at Morden Park. As well as bands there will also be workshops and food, plus special activities for children.

Duckling Days

Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Slimbridge, Glos (01453 890065) today onwards 11-4pm, adults pounds 5.25, children pounds 3.25

A big "aaah" factor as all the fluffy ducklings, goslings and cygnets make their way into the world. You can go on a tour of the duckery (book on arrival) where they hatch all the eggs that can't manage without a bit of help.

Wombles Weekend

Lyme Park, Disley, Stockport, Cheshire (001663 762023) today and tomorrow, 11am onwards, free if you don't come by car, otherwise it is pounds 3.50

Children and their parents are being urged to "get environmentally friendly" this weekend when Orinoco, Great Uncle Bulgaria and friends womble around this National Trust property organising all sorts of events (above).

Well Dressing

This custom began as a thanksgiving for natural supplies of fresh water but now features the crowning of a May queen, a church service and also a funfair held over three days. NS
