Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

When my boyfriend asked for a red fleece from Sainsbury's for Christmas, it came as a shock. At first I scoured the high street for a suitable alternative, but for the price, the quality was very good and it bore no hideous logos. At last I could find no more excuses. It has washed brilliantly and worn better than many of his other, more expensive fleeces.

It would appear that the trend for spotting a bargain in the clothes department while purchasing your weekly consumables is becoming more than a passing fad. Both Sainsbury's and Asda have recognised it and offer increasingly considered ranges for all the family.

And who would of thought that these fab little mules are from Tesco? Whether these shoes actually float or not is another matter, but for pounds 13 a complete and utter bargain must be declared.

Best worn with little capri pants or drawstring skirt for a touch of summer in April.

From branches nationwide (details: 0800-505555).
