From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Devil Wears Prada is finally continuing its story: but this time it will focus on Miranda's other assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt in the film).

Chances are after you saw the movie or read the two books based on Andrea's life you wondered what happened to Emily.

While the first two books in the series focused the life of Miranda's assistant Andrea Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway in the movie), the latest work titled When Life Gives You Lululemons chronicles Emily's career as a celebrity image consultant who lands a huge opportunity in the suburbs.

In Weisberger's follow-up, Emily heads to Greenwich, Connecticut, to help spin the image of supermodel and senator's wife Karolina Hartwell who got a DUI.

Connected to her by a woman named Miriam who is transitioning to be a new stay-at-home mom, it sounds like we might not even recognise Emily anymore by the end of the book.

Hopefully some burning questions about the original "first assistant" to Miranda will be answered:

Does she become nicer?

Does she eventually get to experience Paris?

Do she and Andy ever meet again?

You'll have to wait until June 2018 for the next instalment, coming 15 years after the debut of The Devil Wears Prada.

However you can read an excerpt of the first chapter here, which opens with Emily at quite the New Year's Eve fête.

Since we pretty much are never getting a sequel to the on-screen version of Weisberger's novel, another book in the series is a big win.
