From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

YouTube star Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is to follow in the footsteps of fellow vloggers Zoella and Alfie Deyes and release his own book.

The Swedish gamer, who has more than 37 million YouTube subscribers, will release This Book Loves You in October.

The 250-page illustrated book promises “indispensable advice and inspirational quotes”.

Kjellberg, who is best known by his online alias PewDiePie, has the most subscribed to channel on YouTube, overtaking Rihanna’s channel to become the most viewed of all time in 2014.

His videos generally feature him playing games while giving an on-screen commentary in the top left hand corner.

The 25-year-old, who lives in Brighton, said: “This book is a great chance for me to reach my audience in a new way. The original idea actually came from my fans via Twitter, so I really think they are going to love it.”

Ben Schrank, president and publisher at Penguin US’ Razorbill imprint, said: “With more subscribers than Taylor Swift and One Direction combined, Felix is without question one of the most influential stars of this generation.”

YouTubers Zoe ‘Zoella’ Sugg and Alfie ‘Pointless Blog’ Deyes both released best-selling books in the UK last year.

Sugg’s young adult novel Girl Online became the fastest selling book of 2014, but the YouTube star was later criticised for using a ghostwriter to help pen the novel.
