A nine-year-old reporter is to turn author, having struck a worldwide book deal with Scholastic.
Hilde Lysiak, whose media outlet Orange Street News groundbreakingly broke the news of a suspected murder in her Pennsylvanian hometown, is to write a book series, alongside father Matthew, aimed at readers aged six to eight.
The first of four, named Hilde Cracks the Case: Hero Dog!, will be released September 2017. The remainder of the novels – all based on stories she's broken – will be fanned out over an eight-month period. The series of books have been branded “realistic fiction”.
Hilde is renowned locally for cycling around on her pink bike on the hunt for stories, has also reported on tornadoes and other stories concerning her community.
The other books will be titled Bear on the Loose!!, UFO Spotted!! and Fire Fire!! – the last of which will be published May 2018.
Hollywood could beckon, as film rights to her work are on sale.
