From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On March 9, HarperCollins imprint 4th Estate and app developer Enhanced Editions released a new Wolf Hall application for iPhone and iPod Touch. The app includes an e-book version of Hilary Mantel's 2009 Man Booker Prize winning title, as well as family trees, an essay by Mantel, a video discussion, and a news feed.

Wolf Hall is Mantel's historical novel about English king Henry VIII's advisor Thomas Cromwell. The book won the 2009 Man Booker Prize, becoming the best-selling Booker winner in history, and is also in the running for a US National Book Critics' Circle award.

The Wolf Hall app contains the full text of Mantel's novel as well as a number of multimedia extras and exclusives: a 30-minute video discussion between Hilary Mantel and historian David Starkey, a cast of characters and Tudor family trees, an essay by Mantel on the problems of historical fiction, and a regularly updated news feed with videos, podcasts, and extras.

The full paid app is available for £6.99 (€9.99) at www.itunes.com/appstore.

In addition, a free "sampler" version includes the book's first chapter, the news feed, and a short clip from the video discussion.
