Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

FARCE, John Mortimer once observed, is tragedy played at about 120 revolutions a minute. Marital deception, moral exposure, nasty accidents, the stuff of Feydeau's An Absolute Turkey, would have us cringing in our seats were it not for the breakneck pace of these various crises, creating a physical theatre that foreshadows the craziness of the silent screen. A new translation by Peter Hall and Nicki Frei sharpens the verbal gags; fine physical timing from a cast including Felicity Kendal, Griff Rhys Jones and Nicholas Le Prevost does the rest to make hilarious entertainment. We have 10 pairs of top-price tickets to give away. Answer the questions below on a postcard and send to Turkey, Arts Desk, IoS, 40 City Rd, London EC1Y 2DB, by Tues 5 April.

What is the play's original French title?

Where did Feydeau live for the last 10 years of his life?

'An Absolute Turkey': Globe, W1 (071-494 5065) to 28 May. Usual competition rules apply.
