Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Independent's continuing association with the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and Toshiba, offering special privileges to metro readers at the ICA and other contemporary

art venues

If We Shadows is director Peter Brooks's radical reinvention of A Midsummer Night's Dream, presented by Insomniac Productions at the Young Vic. The bewitched wood is replaced by a wedding party where five couples meet, and find themselves drawn into the imaginary universe of Shakespeare's play. Now in its final week, the Young Vic is offering a pair of free tickets to the first 10 metro readers to ring the box office on 071-928 6363

The ICA is offering metro readers a unique trial membership. For just £5 enjoy three months of benefits, including free entry with a guest to ICA exhibitions, private views, and late bar (open until 1am Tuesday to Saturday). Plus discounts for the cinema, theatre and talks, priority booking, and monthly mailings. To take advantage of the membership offer, contact the ICA box-office in person, by post or telephone 071-930 3647

Today and every Friday until 15 April, from 6pm to 1am, this copy of metro becomes an invitation to an evening at the ICA. Present your metro at the box-office for free entry to the exhibitions, late-night bar and cafe. Currently on show are Superstition, an exhibition of paintings (right) by renowned Belgian artist Luc Tuymans, and Skin of the Teeth, a new installation from young British artist Abigail Lane, based on the traces humans leave behind

Win a limited edition artist's print, Nirvana, by US artist Sue Williams. A silkscreen print, signed by the artist in an edition of only 30, Nirvana depicts a man ejaculating, and is executed with Williams's characteristic graphic genius and wry humour. Sue Williams has participated in the Venice and Whitney Biennials, and recently contributed to the ICA's Bad Girls exhibition. Nirvana is one of a range of artists' prints available from the ICA, and usually costs £480. All metro readers taking advantage of the trial membership before 15 April will be entered in a draw to win this original artwork

On Saturday lunchtime, ICA Cinema is screening the ultimate foodie movie. Babette's Feast, Gabriel Axel's delicious film from 1987, is the consummate celebration of French cuisine - and has less than one calorie per screening (ICA Cafe, of course, will be serving tasty Italian food with a significantly higher calorie-count). The ICA is offering 25 pairs of free tickets for this 12.30pm screening - show your copy of metro at the box-office from noon
