Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Art & Power

This well thought-out if somewhat over-curated exhibition attempts to document the extreme cultural arrogance of the three key European dictatorships of the 1930s and 1940s. Official art from Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Communist Russia shown alongside work labelled as "degenerate".

Africa, the Art of a Continent

This, the pivotal show of the recent Africa '95 season, proved to be more impressive than it might have at first appeared. The curator, Tom Phillips, is to be congratulated on pulling off an inspired tour de force. Don't miss your last chance to see this essential crash course in the art of a too-often-neglected continent.

David Hockney

It is now some 30 years since Bradford's boy wonder shot to stardom as the leading light of British Pop. In that time he has been constantly experimenting with every medium from photo-collage to fax machine. Drawing, though, has remained a constant inspiration and here are some of his finest. Portraits, nudes and dogs.
