The first major exhibition of Sri Lanka’s leading contemporary artists to be held since the end of the country’s civil war in 2009 opens in London today.
Featuring more than 25 works by prominent and emerging Sri Lankan artists, the exhibition at Asia House will bring a taste of the radical but little-known art scene to the UK.
Muhanned Cader, Druvinka and Sanjeewa Kumara are among the more established names to participate; but emerging artists like Vajira Gunewardena and Pala Pothupitiye have also been given a platform.
There will be an evening of lectures on 10 March to provide background to the not-for-profit exhibition.
