From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Tracey Emin has become the latest artist to design a Brit Award, choosing to turn the statuette of Brittania pink and adorn it with her spidery scrawl.
The Royal Academician and Turner Prize nominee has also added a rosette motif to the rear of the statue.
Each year, a figure from the world of creative arts is asked to come up with their own design on the figurine. Previous big names to do so include Philip Treacy, Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst and Vivienne Westwood.
"You want to do it really well. You don't just want to decorate it, you want to make something that is really Tracey-ish, that is special for the people receiving it," Emin said of her trophy.
The writing on the award reads: "Congratulations on your talent on your life. On everything you give to others. Thank you."
Emin's works famously include My Bed - an unmade bed covered in debris which she exhibited at Tate Britain after she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1999. It went on to sell for £2.2 million at auction in July of this year.
Emin, who is best-known for her Turner-nominated artwork, My Bed, and a tent embroidered with the names of many of her lovers, called Everyone I Have Ever Slept With, unveiled an exhibition of recent works at the White Cube Gallery in London in recent months called The Last Great Adventure Is You.
The Brit Awards will take place at London's O2 Arena on the evening of 25 February, with Ant and Dec replacing regular host James Corden who bowed out from the role earlier this year.
