Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Music

At the moment what I am listening to varies from established US acts such as 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West to some of my favourites such as the Young Money Cash Money acts Drake, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. I’m listening to a new West Coast rapper at the moment called Problem. I really like his stuff. Over here I really like Wretch 32’s new material. In Europe, I have discovered different styles of house music. I also like deep house and that whole scene.

Television

I watch quite a lot of TV. I like Eastenders and Waterloo Road. Boardwalk Empire is a great show.

Books

You should read Howling at the Moon by Walter Yetnikoff, an amazing book about the music industry in the 1980’s and his dealings with Michael Jackson and other huge acts.

Films

I haven’t been to the cinema that much lately but I’m looking forward to seeing the new Iron Man film and also The Great Gatsby, and Anchorman 2 when it comes out.

Comedy

I haven’t had time to check out any shows but I do love the Funny or Die website Will Ferrell runs.

Wiley performs at GlobalGathering, Stratford Upon Avon (globalgathering.com), 26 and 27 July. His new single ‘Lights On’ is out now.
