Your support makes all the difference.Visual Arts: Sargent and the Sea at the Royal Academy. The emotional seascapes and beautifully lit beach scenes are inspiring. I subscribe to get a Friends of the Tate and Friends of the Royal Academy card each year, so I can pop into each gallery often. Also, they both have really nice cafés, so it is a good place to meet for snacks. The Museum of Everything, with Sir Peter Blake's collection of stuff he has found over the years is very sweet and interesting too.
Films: Another Year, well made but a bit too depressing for me. The Secret in Their Eyes which I loved because it is so well written and I really ended up caring about the characters. The Girl Who Played with Fire, which was very gripping – looking forward to seeing The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
Television: The Trip made me smile. Mad Men is my favourite show at the moment – it is so darkly compelling and stylish.
Music: Kings Of Leon's new album is still very original, and Band on the Run. Because it has just been re-released it brings back lots of fond memories. Also, Eminem – I like to listen to him when I'm walking my dog in the park!
Theatre: The last play I saw was Jerusalem, as it was highly recommended. Having taken photos of dancers from the Royal Ballet, I really enjoy seeing their performances at the Royal Opera House. I am looking forward to going to see Giselle soon.
Books: Solar by Ian McEwan. I've not finished it yet, but I'm finding that it makes me smile and cringe. It is very well written.
