A new look at Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World has already offered up footage of Christopher Plummer as billionaire John Paul Getty, replacing Kevin Spacey in the role.

Scott made the decision to remove Spacey from the final cut earlier this month after the actor was hit with multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault, though principal photography had concluded in August and the film was set to premiere at the closing night of the AFI (American Film Institute) fest.

The film was pulled from the festival's schedule and Plummer was hired to reshoot Spacey's scenes at short notice, in order for the film to be completed without delaying its US release date of 22 December.

With a reported cost of $10 million - a quarter of the film's original reported $40 million budget - reshoots will have only just wrapped, but a new trailer has already been magicked up in the meantime.

All the Money in the World tells the story of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III's kidnapping, with Plummer as his billionaire grandfather J. Paul Getty, who refused to pay the ransom. The film also stars Michelle Williams as Getty III's mother Gail Harris and Mark Wahlberg as Fletcher Chase, the former CIA operative who tried to convince Getty Sr to co-operate with the kidnapper's demands.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott stated that he made the decision to remove Spacey as soon as he first heard the allegations made against the actor, adding: "I sat and thought about it and realised, we cannot. You can't tolerate any kind of behaviour like that. And it will affect the film. We cannot let one person's action affect the good work of all these other people. It's that simple."

Netflix has also stated it will not release Gore, in which Spacey played author Gore Vidal, and has also dropped him from House of Cards, which now enters its sixth and final season.

British police are believed to be investigating two allegations of sexual assault against Kevin Spacey, while 20 people detailed "disturbing" complaints of inappropriate behaviour from the actor during his time as artistic director at London’s Old Vic. Matthew Warchus, the theatre’s current artistic director, offered “genuine and deep sympathy” to “all those who have come forward”.

Spacey's former spokesperson has said he is "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment."

All the Money in the World will hit UK cinemas on 5 January 2018.
