This is how you can ski and snowboard with the experts in a gorgeous French Alps resort
Head to the newly refurbished Club Med Alpe d'Huez to experience Masters of the Mountain, an action-packed week on the slopes with Jenny Jones and Billy Morgan
This winter, you can head to the slopes with two of the UK’s best-known ski and snowboard athletes, as you unleash your inner champion. British Olympic medallists Billy Morgan and Jenny Jones will be at the heart of Club Med’s Alpe d’Huez Masters of the Mountain week at the new multi-million pound resort in the Western Alps.
In 2015, Billy Morgan made history as the first snowboarder in the world to land the 1800 quadruple cork. At last year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he took bronze in the exhilarating Big Air event. Jenny Jones was the first Briton ever to win a snow medal at the Winter Olympics with her win at Sochi in 2014 and has also won three gold medals at the Winter X Games. The two champions will be on hand to pass on their tips to guests on the slopes with masterclasses on how to glide down the slopes like a champ.
At 1860 metres altitude, Club Med Alpe d’Huez is a ski-in and ski-out resort, with over 250 km of runs, ranging from green to black, with the top summit at 3,300 metres. Taking place between 22 and 29 March 2020, Masters of the Mountain is designed especially for British guests.
Both Morgan and Jones have previously been guests at the Club Med resort. “I can’t wait to head out to Alpe d’Huez, hit up the slopes and enjoy the delights that Club Med has to offer. It’s going to be an action-packed week," says Morgan.
Club Med’s Alpe d’Huez resort reopens again this winter after a £75 million renovation, with 441 new deluxe rooms with panoramic views and bathtubs. In addition, there’s a new gourmet lounge with a wine cellar, new après-ski restaurants plus indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
Food is another area where you'll notice the quality, with menus specialising in locally sourced products served with finesse. This French company has always been at the highest end of the all-inclusive market with open bars, ski passes and lessons included in the price.
Apres-ski is just as important. Away from the slopes, Jenny Jones and Billy Morgan will be holding stretching, yoga and meditation sessions and giving tips on how to develop the mental resilience needed as an athlete. At the end of the week, there will be slalom ski races, as well as an atmospheric torchlight descent at sunset.
The price is £1,999pp including flights from London and transfers, all-inclusive accommodation, ski-pass, lessons and activities with Jenny and Billy, or £1,899pp for the week without flights and transfers.
