From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. BioWare have released a new trailer for their upcoming computer game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, showing some of online multiplayer's basic elements.

The game is set 3,500 years before the Star Wars films, as galactic civilization teeters on the brink of another conflict between the Republic and the Sith Empire.

Four player types are shown: a Galactic Republic Trooper, a smuggler, a Jedi knight, and a Consular. All have different skills and consequently focus on wielding heavy weaponry, taking pot-shots, using light sabers or healing other party members.

Though the game isn't due out until 2011, it was on display at Los Angeles' Electronic Entertainment Expo in June, and the trailer is the same video that was shown to the press during that event.

BioWare and LucasArts will be competing with established titles in the Massively Multiplayer Online genre such as World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online, and newcomers such as DC Universe Online and Guild Wars 2.

The Star Wars trailer can be found at GameTrailers, or on YouTube where Machinima Respawn are one of several channels hosting the E3 2010 multiplayer trailer.
