From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 43-year-old American led the club to the National Cup and Play-off titles in 2001, but they have been in decline since, losing the final 16 championship games of last season and the first nine of the current campaign leading up to last night's 99-94 defeat to Thames Valley Tigers.
Adding fuel to speculation regarding Mims' future was last week's arrival in England of his fellow American Kevin Wall, who retired at the end of last season after leading Scottish Rocks to the Play-off title.
Other candidates are Andre Alleyne, who resigned as coach of National League Sutton Pumas last week, and the former England player Karl Brown.
In the BBL on Saturday night, Omar Sneed's 32 points led London Towers to only their third win of the season. They beat Tigers 99-86.
In the BBL Trophy group qualifiying groups, Brighton Bears won 82-55 at National League Plymouth Raiders, while Sheffield Sharks lost 93-86 at Chester Jets on Friday.
