Ange Postecoglou not bothered if Tottenham fans support him

Cole Palmer scored two penalties included a cheeky Panenka as Chelsea came from behind to beat Spurs 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham made the perfect start when Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski capitalised on slips by Marc Cucurella – who later changed his boots – to race into a two-goal lead.

But Jadon Sancho replied with a well-taken goal, and after half-time Chelsea equalised when Yves Bissouma’s lunge was given as a clear penalty, and Palmer slotted from the spot.

Palmer’s jinking run then helped create for Enzo Fernandez to put Chelsea ahead, and another Spurs mistake – when Pape Matar Sarr bundled into the back of Palmer – gave up another spot-kick, which the playmaker dinked deftly down the middle.

Son Heung-min hit back near the close but it was too little, too late as the Blues moved to second in the Premier League.

Jamie Vardy inspires dramatic comeback as Leicester rescue point against Brighton

Leicester produced a grandstand finish to rescue a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Brighton and continue their promising start under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutchman’s honeymoon period at the King Power Stadium looked like lasting one game as the Seagulls cruised into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Tariq Lamptey and Yankuba Minteh.

But Jamie Vardy gave them hope in 86th minute and then Bobby De Cordova-Reid struck four minutes later to earn a point and keep the feelgood factor alive.

Kieran McKenna says Ipswich left ‘devastated’ after Bournemouth comeback win

Kieran McKenna admitted Ipswich were left “devastated” after Bournemouth came from a goal down to snatch a last-gasp 2-1 win.

Conor Chaplin’s first Premier League goal looked to have finally ended Town’s search for a first home victory of the season.

But late goals from Cherries substitutes Enes Unal and Dango Ouattara inflicted an agonising defeat on the Tractor Boys.

Gary Neville speaks out over shock Dan Ashworth exit from Man Utd

Gary Neville believes Dan Ashworth had little say in his abrupt departure as Manchester United sporting director.

Ashworth lasted just five months in the role, having taken up his position at Old Trafford on 1 July after a long gardening leave with former club Newcastle United due to negotiations between the clubs over an exit fee.

The decision to part ways came following United’s disappointing 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, which inflicted Ruben Amorimwith a second Premier League loss in the space of four days.

And Neville, who played for the Red Devils for close to two decades, has hinted that the 53-year-old’s exit was not his decision to make.

“Something like that can’t be mutual,” Neville told NBC Sports.

When could Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool be replayed?

The final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park between Everton and Liverpool has been postponed with Storm Darragh battering the UK.

The decision will give the authorities a headache to squeeze the replayed fixture into an already packed calendar.

Everton’s statement insisted more information would follow concerning the new date for the fixture, with the reverse fixture at Anfield due on 2 April 2025.

Rico Lewis sent off as Crystal Palace hold Man City to damage title hopes

Rico Lewis rescued a point for Manchester City in their 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace before he was sent off late in the second half at Selhurst Park.

Erling Haaland cancelled out Daniel Munoz’s fourth-minute opener with his 13th goal of the Premier League season to draw himself level with Mohamed Salah in the golden boot race.

Summer signing Maxence Lacroix fired Palace back in front with his first Eagles goal after the break but the sides were back on level terms from Lewis’s fine finish in the 68th minute.

Man Utd discover a painful lesson as Ruben Amorim’s honeymoon period abruptly ended

A historic victory for a catalytic Portuguese manager at Old Trafford. Just what Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the powerbrokers who headhunted Ruben Amorim imagined, but for one minor detail. The winner was not their glamorous newcomer but the unfashionable figure of Nuno Espirito Santo, who has steered Nottingham Forest to heights few dared to think they could touch. As for Amorim, his honeymoon period seems fleeting. The problems at Manchester United, it appears, could only be concealed for three matches.

Since then, Amorim has suffered back-to-back defeats. If losing at Arsenal had a logic, being beaten by Forest at Old Trafford was the sort of chastening setback that happened all too often in Erik ten Hag’s final 14 months in charge. Amorim’s United displayed familiar flaws and new shortcomings, contributing to their own downfall with individual errors, slow starts and set-piece failings. Much as in Ten Hag’s unravelling, United were too open, too liable to be counterattacked and left the midfield too empty. Some of this was Ten Hag-style chaos.

Fulham expose one of Arsenal’s few weaknesses to disrupt title bid

A game of “millimetres”, as Mikel Arteta put it. Are these the fine lines on which titles are eventually won or lost? In the 90th minute of this 1-1 drawat Fulham, Gabriel Martinelli was waiting for that key pass and looking along the Fulham defence. He was at that point onside, and then received the ball to cut in and play the cross that had been lacking from Arsenal’s attack all game. Bukayo Saka finished, but the moment was not done. In the second before the pass was played to Martinelli, Kenny Tete had stepped up. The Brazilian hadn’t been attentive to that, and the goal was eventually ruled out.

“For millimetres, we could have been sitting here with three points after a really strong and dominant performance against a really good team,” Arteta lamented, as he described it as he spoke about a “really crucial moment for us to go for it”.

Carragher suggests Palmer has “done more than Zola already”

Jamie Carragher made some interesting comments on Sky earlier regarding Palmer’s impact at the club.

“He gets the penalties and he is involved in the Enzo Fernandez goal as well. People fear when he has the ball,” he said.

“He hasn’t been playing for the best team. When you look at Chelsea over the years, you look at flair players you look at Gianfranco Zola and Eden Hazard. He has probably done more than Zola already in his 18 months at the club.

He is going to go down as one of the biggest players for Chelsea if he keeps doing what he is doing. He is a very special player, and that’s not just in the Premier League it is in Europe and world football as well.”

Cole Palmer pelted by Tottenham fans in heated London derby

Cole Palmer was pelted with missiles by Tottenham fans as he tried to take corners during a heated London derby at the Tottenham HotspurStadium.

Chelsea and Spurs shared an entertaining first half as two quick goals for the home side were pegged back by one from the Blues’ Jadon Sancho.

But the game twice had to be stopped as stewards cleared up and contained fans when Palmer, Chelsea’s outstanding player this season, was bombarded with balls of paper which had been provided on seats for Spurs to make a mosaic before kick-off. There also appeared to be a bottle thrown among the objects aimed at the Chelsea player.
