Southampton are looking to cause another upset as Tottenham Hotspur travel to St Mary's on New Year's Day.

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side have been in resurgent form after a drab start to the season left them firmly in a relegation battle.

Back-to-back wins against Aston Villa and Chelsea dragged the Saints out of the bottom three and, after a draw against Crystal Palace, the Saints are four points clear of the drop zone.

Jose Mourinho's side slipped to a 2-2 draw against Norwich last time out. However, they are still in close pursuit of the Champions League places, just four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Here is everything you need to know:

When is it?

The match kicks off at 3pm on 1 January at St Mary's.

How can I watch it?

The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate, with coverage beginning at 2:45pm.

Prediction

Southampton are riding a wave of momentum and will be confident of causing another upset after defeating Chelsea, however, Tottenham should eventually show their superior quality in a close-fought contest.

Southampton 1-2 Tottenham

Predicted line-ups

Southampton: McCarthy; Cedric, Stephens, Bednarek, Bertrand; Armstrong, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Redmond; Adams, Ings

Spurs: Gazzaniga; Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Aurier, Sissoko, Dier, Lucas; Lamela, Dele Alli; Kane

Team news

Southampton are waiting on the fitness of Shane Long and Yan Valery who are both close to returning from injury. Danny Ings is expected to return to the starting line-up, despite being left out last week.

Jose Mourinho will have a number of decisions to make in midfield with Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Eric Dier all vying for positions as Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks return from suspension. Hugo Lloris, Danny Rose and Ben Davies are all unavailable.

Draw - 23/10

Tottenham - 11/10
