From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ryan Shawcross and his wife have tweeted a brilliant response in retaliation to Diego Costa's suggestion that the Stoke defender had a problem with body odour.
During yesterday's Premier League meeting at the Britannia Stadium between Stoke and Chelsea, the two battled all afternoon.
Ultimately Shawcross came out on top, with his Stoke side managing to keep a clean sheet and nick a goal at the other end to win 1-0 and pile yet more pressure on Chelsea.
But Costa made a rather mean accusation during the game. The Chelsea striker appeared to suggest his opponent smelt, with the Spain international caught on camera holding his nose, lifting his armpit and pointing at Shawcross.
With the comment clearly not forgotten, Shawross's wife Kath posted an excellent riposte on Twitter.
Alongside a picture of her husband holding a can of deodorant, she wrote: "Made sure Ryan Shawcross put his deodorant on this evening".
It seems that not only did Shawcross win the match, but also his feud with Costa.
