Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

37 mins: The yellow cards are stacking up for Tottenham. Dele Alli becomes the third visiting player to enter Craig Pawson's notebook this first half after the youngster bundles over Adam Smith from behind. Will this indiscipline cost Spurs later in the contest?

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:08

39 mins: A heavy first touch from Jack Wilshere ten yards outside the Tottenham area brings a hitherto opportunity to counter to an end. It's been a disappointing first half for the Arsenal player against a club he has the most vocal of opinions about.

40 mins: Here comes the controversy! Moments after Dan Gosling has become the first Bournemouth player yellow carded for clattering Kyle Walker, a frustrated Erik Lamela seeks retribution by lunging in on Gosling. It's a ridiculously stupid tackle from the Argentine, already on a booking, but despite the irate protestations of the Bournemouth players in the vicinity, Craig Pawson decides to give  the Tottenham forward another chance. The home fans are not happy and with good reason.

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:13

43 mins: Craig Pawson's leniency did not last long. Danny Rose is the fourth Tottenham player who will take to the break with a yellow card against his name. The left back is booked for bringing down Josh King in the middle of the pitch.

45 mins: As two minutes of stoppage time are indicated, Jack Wilshere produces his best piece of play of the game. Coming in from the right, he clips a pinpoint cross into the area for Callum Wilson but the striker's glancing header drops two yards wide of goal.

HALF-TIME - BOURNEMOUTH 0 TOTTENHAM 0:

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:17

60 mins: Cometh the hour, cometh mad Max Gradel. The former Leeds nutjob is on for Jordon Ibe. Or as he's known in these parts, '£15m?!?!' Jordon Ibe.

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:48

62 mins: And now a Tottenham substitution. Heung-Min Son hasn't seen much action on his own up top, and he will be replaced by a more traditional centre-forward in Vincent Janssen. The Dutch striker is still to open his Premier League account.

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:50

64 mins: Tottenham are starting to get a grip on proceedings, but still lack that final piece of quality in the final third. Aside from a couple of routine Artur Boruc saves, the home side have rarely been tested and it remains delicately poised. One moment of magic - or madness - will win this.

Sam Dymond22 October 2016 13:54

67 mins: Speaking of madness, Max has been booked. He's been on just six minutes but has already received the wrath of the ref for tangling with Lamela.
