Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Former England captain David Beckham has revealed his delight at the start made at former club Manchester United by teenage striker Marcus Rashford.
The 18-year-old from Wythenshawe has five goals in eight matches for Louis van Gaal's team, including the winner in the 1-0 win over rivals City in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Beckham, who won six Premier League titles and the Champions League with Manchester United, posted a picture to his Instagram account that showed Rashford celebrating his goal at the Etihad.
"When a young kid that loves the club he is at and loves the game he is playing this is what you get... The excitement in Marcus's face after scoring against our rivals is exactly what a kid his age should look like...
"It's refreshing and pleasing to see... Congrats to Marcus on another great day."
Manchester United team-mate Juan Mata also shared his praise for the young striker, who scored his first goal since the end of February.
"Marcus showed again that he is a great player in the making," Mata wrote on his popular blog, One Hour Behind.
"We all believe in him, although we must remember that he's still very young and he's just arrived in the first team."
