Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed in a post on his official Facebook account that he picked up the injury which forced him off at half-time during Arsenal's 1-1 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich on Tuesday night in only the second minute of the match.

Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that the club's £42.5m record signing would be "out for a few weeks" after suffering up the hamstring injury, and followed this up by saying today that the 25-year-old has undergone scans to assess the severity of the problem.

It was reported yesterday that Ozil had played on for the remainder of the half with the injury, although it was not known at the time that it was for a full 43 minutes.

"He's out [of Arsenal's next match against rivals Tottenham on Sunday]. I don't know for how long but it is a hamstring injury," Wenger said.

Then Ozil clarified the injury in a post on his social-networking site this afternoon after seeing Arsenal's medical staff.

"Now it's clear: During the match against Bayern I suffered a muscle injury in the second minute. I tried to give my best and played until the end of the first half. Rest assured that I'll be back even stronger!"

By playing on for 43 minutes, Ozil could only have aggravated his injury, and reports claim that the scans showed a significant hamstring strain - meaning he is expected to miss Tottenham (a) on Sunday, Chelsea (a) next Saturday, Swansea (h) on 25 March, Manchester City (h) on 29 March, Everton (a) on 6 April and also the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan at Wembley on 12 April.
