From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Welcome to our live coverage of the 2019 Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the perfect start when he hammered home a second minute penalty after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handballed the ball in the area. A streaker interrupted proceedings before Divock Origi sealed the win late on with a smart finish.

13: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Fabinho gets the first tasty challenge in of the day, a late tackle on Eric Dier.

Spurs have settled to become the side with the greater intent to hold onto possession, although they're far from being their clinical best.

A case of scoring too early?

20: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Spurs are pressing well here and Liverpool are struggling to get up the pitch, even Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are struggling to get involved in the game in wide areas.

Tottenham with 63 per cent of the possession here. Sadly, for them, they're not doing too much with it.

They get forward and Son Heung-min gets one-on-one with Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the defender does well to deny him anything.

22: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Another Liverpool corner is aimed right in the six-yard and Hugo Lloris does really well to punch it away again.

23: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool attack down the left and work the ball to Andy Robertson. The defender curls a ball towards the back post and Danny Rose just about clears it before Mohamed Salah gets to it.

25: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Andy Robertson catches Kieran Tripper with late arm and it's a little heated down there. Mauricio Pochettino is on hand to calm things down.

28: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

There's still a calmness to this Tottenham side, despite going a goal down inside the second minute.

It still, however, feels a little tense inside the Wanda.

How much of this is down to the three weeks both side had between game?

31: Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool

Neither Roberto Firmino or Harry Kane have done a huge amount during the first 30 minutes here.

You feel that Kane needs just one chance to grab a goal, but he's not offering his teammates enough at the moment.
