Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow the latest reaction after Cardiff City were relegated from the Premier League after a 3-2 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Neil Warnock's side needed to win at home to stand any chance of catching Brighton and Hove Albion, who sit four points above the Bluebirds ahead of their Sunday encounter with Arsenal.

But Palace were always on the front foot early on and took the lead through Wilfried Zaha, and despite a Martin Kelly own goal levelling the scores, Michy Batshuayi soon restored the advantage. Andros Townsend added a third in the second half that proved to be the final nail in the coffin, and while Cardiff scored a late consolation through Bobby Reid, their relegation to the Championship was confirmed soon after. Travers denies Moura again!

Lucas Moura gets in behind Bournemouth's back four, this time on the left, Travers stands tall and cuts the angle at the near post. Moura tries to go for the far corner but Travers makes the save with his foot.

Tottenham should be ahead. They push the ball out to Moura who flicks it on to Son. Son runs with the ball into the left side of the box and shoots... but sends the ball over the bar.

Spurs attack again. Son gives the ball to Rose who delivers a fine cross into the box. Alli rises and heads it towards goal but Travers leaps to his left and palms it away! Another fine save from the Irishman.

Josh King takes the ball off Dier and threatens to break away but Dier recovers to tackle him from behind. It looked like a ropey tackle but the referee sees no problem with it and lets play continue. The Bournemouth fans let their feelings known as they boo the Tottenham man.

Alderweireld makes a mess of a long ball forward as King wins the ball. Lloris flies out to meet him, makes the save and brings down the Bournemouth forward.

From the corner, Bournemouth get the ball out wide to Fraser who puts it back into the box but Lloris claims it.

Sissoko gets booked for a challenge on Ake. Wilson sends King forward down the left wing, King brings it into the box and tries to find Wilson, who has continued his run, but Dier sweeps his leg. No foul says the ref as Lloris dives on the ball.

Eric Dier is really riding his luck.

SON IS OFF!

This game has been heating up, Eric Dier has been lucky but this is stupid from Son. Fraser scraps with Son for the ball, loses out but Lerma follows him up with a tackle of his own. Son gets frustrated and shoves Lerma over aggressively. The referee sees it and pulls out the red card.

Two added minutes at the end of the first half and Spurs are reeling. They manage to get to half-time but they look like they've lost the plot and are down to ten men for the rest of the match.

Mark Travers has been outstanding for Bournemouth though and because of him the scores are still level.

SECOND HALF: Bournemouth 0 - 0 Spurs

Multiple changes for Tottenham at half-time. Alderweireld and Dier are off unsurprisingly with Foyth and Wanyama coming on.

OH MY DAYS!

Foyth is gone as well. He races Lerma to get to a loose ball but Simpson looks to get their first. Foyth dives in his right leg is high as he makes contact with Simpson and referee Craig Pawson pulls out a red card.

Foyth lasted 125 seconds.
