From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Robin van Persie and Mark van Bommel have both been confirmed in the Holland squad for the friendly against Turkey after the pair recovered from injuries.

Van Persie had missed more than two months with an ankle injury before returning as a substitute for Arsenal against Newcastle last weekend although he didn't make it off the bench against Wolves in midweek.

Van Bommel did not play for Bayern Munich at the weekend and although the Bundesliga club hope to have the midfielder available against Nurnberg on Sunday, confirmation of his selection for the match on November 17 is likely to add to the strain between Bayern and the Dutch Football Association (KNVB).

Bayern had asked for Van Bommel to be released before the Euro 2012 qualifier against Sweden last month after he suffered a recurrence of a knee problem, but Holland coach Bert Van Marwijk, his father-in-law, claimed he was fit and he played for 70 minutes.

The club had already been in dispute with the KNVB after Arjen Robben returned from the World Cup with a hamstring injury.

The injured trio of Wout Brama, Eljero Elia and Ruud van Nistelrooy have been ruled out, while Wilfred Bouma and Vurnon Anita Van Marwijk have been removed from the squad with Urby Emanuelson getting a call-up for the match in Amsterdam.

Holland squad: Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Michael Vorm (FC Utrecht), Khalid Boulahrouz (Stuttgart), Erik Pieters (PSV Eindhoven), John Heitinga (Everton), Hedwiges Maduro (Valencia), Joris Mathijsen (Hamburg), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax), Peter Wisgerhof (FC Twente), Urby Emanuelson (Ajax), Ibrahim Afellay (PSV Eindhoven), Mark van Bommel (Bayern Munich), Stijn Schaars (AZ Alkmaar), Theo Janssen (FC Twente), Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan), Rafael van der Vaart (Tottenham), Demy de Zeeuw (Ajax), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Schalke), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Jeremain Lens (PSV Eindhoven), Robin van Persie (Arsenal).
