Norwich City have confirmed striker Dieumerci Mbokani is unharmed after travelling through Zaventem Airport at the time of this morning’s terrorist attacks in Brussels.

At least 26 people are feared dead and many more wounded following blasts near check-in desks for American Airlines and Brussels Airlines before another explosion was reported at Maelbeek Metro station.

The Premier League club say Mbokani, a Congolese international who joined on loan from Dynamo Kyiv in the summer, was “unharmed but shaken” by the incident in the Belgian capital.

A statement on their website added: “The club is in constant dialogue with Dieumerci, who has now returned home to be with his family. The thoughts of everyone at Norwich City are with the victims of the atrocities in Belgium today and their relatives.

“There will be no further statements from the club or Dieumerci Mbokani at this time.”

Meanwhile, the Belgian national football team have cancelled a training session scheduled for this morning.

“Our thoughts are with the victims,” a statement on the Royal Belgian Football Association’s Twitter account said.

“Football is not important today. Training is cancelled.”

Belgium are due to play Portugal in an international friendly at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Tuesday March 29 before travelling to face Switzerland the following Saturday.
