Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

There were hold-ups on three London Underground lines, while the imposition of a speed restriction affected Greater Anglia main line trains running into the capital.
On the Tube, emergency engineering work at Finsbury Park in north London meant the Victoria line was part suspended for a time, with delays continuing into the heart of the rush-hour.
Signal problems also led to delays on the District line and on the Northern line.
On the main line, the speed restriction was in place at Bethnal Green in east London which led to reduced services between Gidea Park and Liverpool Street station in London.
In northern England a signalling problem caused disruption to services between Sunderland and Newcastle.
This morning's problems followed severe delays to main line services in and out of London's Waterloo station last night, with some commuters taking up to three hours to get home.
Temperatures were hovering around the early twenties in London during rush hour and are expected to peak at 29 degrees at around 7pm.
