Sturridge secures draw for Chelsea at Tottenham
Daniel Sturridge's equaliser earned Chelsea a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane last night, keeping Spurs just two points ahead of their rivals. After eight minutes, Emmanuel Adebayor converted Gareth Bale's ball to put Tottenham in front. Sturridge equalised 15 minutes later, finishing Ashley Cole's cross despite claims of handball against the left-back. Ramires missed a late header, and neither side could find a winning goal. MORE

Cyclist Mark Cavendish won the BBC Sport Personality of the Year award last night, after winning the Road Race World Championships and the Tour de France green jersey in 2011. "For me it's a landmark in cycling," he said. "I take this on behalf of cycling." MORE

Former Australian player Brad Drewett was hired yesterday as the new head of the men's professional tennis tour, as executive chairman and president of the ATP. Drewett reached a career-high ranking of 34 in singles, and won two tournaments.

England centre Shontayne Hape believes a new era will end his international career. "It is time to start rebuilding for the next World Cup," he said. "It is time for the young guys to step up and take charge and get that experience of playing in big games." MORE
