Betting has been suspended on the name of the new royal baby - after a flurry of wagers that the baby boy will be called Albert.

After closing its royal baby name betting market on Thursday night, a spokesman for Coral said: "We are expecting to discover the outcome tomorrow and at the moment a Prince Albert looks likely."

It comes after eagle-eyed royal watchers spotted a page has been reserved for a Prince Albert on the family's official website.

When viewers attempt to see the web address: www.royal.uk/prince-albert, it reads “Access Denied” and “You are not authorised to access this page.”

The same message appears on web links for Prince George and Princess Charlotte respectively.

However, entering alternative names, such as Fredrick or Alexander brings up pages that read: “Page Not Found.”

The clue, first spotted by the Mail Online, seems to confirm the name Albert as the most likely choice for the third royal baby, who was born three days ago on April 23 2018.

Albert was the name of Queen Victoria's husband - he was her first cousin and introduced to her by their uncle Leopold, King of the Belgians.

The then 17-year-old Queen - who reigned from 1837 to 1901 - quickly fell for the Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, describing him as "extremely handsome".

Both Prince George and Princess Charlotte's names were revealed just two days after their arrivals but an official announcement for the name of their new brother has not yet been made.

The baby boy weighs 8lbs 7oz and was delivered at 11:01am on Monday.

When asked about the name of the new prince, Prince William said: "I'm working on that... You'll know soon, you'll know soon."

The announcement is expected to take place tomorrow.
