Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

France and the UK have already named their favorite perfumes of the past year, but Germany's Duftstars and the industry's biggest ceremony, the US Fifi Awards, are still coming up. Plus: May's fragrance launches, and other exciting new products.

Fragrance launches
May
International

The biggest celebrity fragrance launch this month comes courtesy of Avon, with Fergie's Outspoken hitting the shelves. Other new perfumes going on sale in May include Replay's Replay Refresh, Moschino's Toujours Glamour, Guerlain's La Cologne du Parfumeur, Diptyque's Vetyverio, and the new fragrance released as part of Bond no. 9's Andy Warhol collection: Montauk.

CND Shellac launch
May
USA

The latest innovation from Creative Nail Design (CND), called Shellac, is a hybrid between traditional nail polish and gel that dries underneath a UV lamp, doesn't smell, and will stay on your nails for 14 days without chipping or smudging. Plus: it can be removed in ten minutes and doesn't damage your nails. Due to be launched in the US in May (and hopefully internationally soon after), with all the raving reviews it has gotten from professionals, this product could get DIY manicurists back into the salon.
