From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Stars of the stage hit the red carpet last night for the 72nd annual Tony Awards.

Attended by Broadway’s biggest actors at Radio City Hall in New York City, the ceremony was hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban with performances from the cast of Mean Girls, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and Bruce Springsteen.

Big winners of the night included The Band's Visit which dominated the ceremony with 10 wins, Andrew Garfield for Lead Actor and Laurie Metcalf for Best Featured Actress for Three Tall Women.

A night of grace and glamour, the celebrities did not disappoint in the style stakes with standout looks from the likes of Tina Fey who donned fabulous feathers, Denise Gough in sparkling tiered chiffon and Anna Wintour in Gen-Z Yellow Prada.

Many of the male attendees decided to keep their suits simple, but others such as Carousel star Joshua Henry and Mean Girls actor Grey Henson decided to stand out by donning vibrant jackets.

Meanwhile, Robert de Niro's ensemble was overshadowed when he took to the stage at the Tony Awards shouting "f*** Trump" into his mic.
