From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lorca would be 100 years old this year if he hadn't been shot in 1936. Thanks a lot, Franco. To celebrate the centenary of this extraordinary artist, everyone from poets to producers are rushing around unearthing forgotten fragments and mounting major revivals of his work. Theatre audiences around the country can look forward to I Weep at My Piano, the latest extravanganza from Told by an Idiot. Hayley Carmichael will play Lorca in a surreal theatrical sandwich between Dali and Bunuel. Meanwhile Christopher Bruce is reviving the fantastical dance drama based on Lorca's life and work which he created in 1977 with the massively influential Lindsay Kemp. The tale is told in dance, song, mime and verse and uses the original music of Carlos Miranda and a bullring- type set by the legendary Ralph Koltai. For added Spanish flavour you'll be delighted to learn that this is being sponsored by the sherry people Gonzalez Byass.
