President Donald Trump’s administration has drafted an expanded travel ban targeting 43 countries, dividing them into three tiers based on perceived security risks.
The "red" list comprises 11 countries whose citizens would be entirely banned, including Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria.
The "orange" list includes 10 countries whose citizens would have to sit in-person interviews to obtain a visa. They include Belarus, Haiti, Myanmar and Russia.
The "yellow" list consists of 22 countries, primarily African nations, given 60 days to address security concerns or risk being moved to the red or orange lists.
This proposal comes two months after Trump signed an executive order directing officials to identify countries with deficient vetting procedures. The White House says no final decision has been made.
