Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Babe Rainbow - Angus Dowling, Kool Breeze and Dr Elliot Love-Wisdom - are a groovy bunch from New South Wales who recently played a superb set at Moth Club in Hackney, London.

They're back in the UK for a live show and signing tonight (Monday 25 September) - if you're about then definitely try and check them out.

The band recently released a splendid video for their song "Johny Says Stay Cool" - take a look:

An incomprehensible Q&A with The Babe Rainbow:

What are your plans for 2017?

A sick baby on the trail down from Hell diver, July 1961.. is probably a more important question. But!!! How about a south American tour? La victoria siempre!! Jack wants to rent a room in castle Neuschwanstein for the summer, work on some key-line design, also.

First gig, best gig, worst gig?

First: First show we ever played was right on the beach at the finals of the Noosa Longboarding Festival. Right there.

(Yes, The Fish Music)

Best: Last night in Leipzig. Ilses Erika underneath the old cinema. But Berlin is tonight, so it looks like salad for dinner.

Worst: We once played at the holiday inn of Boulder Canyon, it was the worst gig we have ever played. And after we left, the Holiday Inn of Boulder Canyon loved us so much that it followed us all over California, and we laughed when it rubbed itself against our legs like a strange cat.

The Babe Rainbow play Rough Trade West in London on 25 September
