Your support makes all the difference.Up-and-coming Brooklyn four-piece TEEN (pictured) have turned to Kickstarter to fund the recording and release of their new Carolina EP – kck.st/11KIK5u. Things are looking good with the group already surpassing their $5,000 target ahead of their donation deadline tomorrow. The all-girl quartet offered up a sample track from the proposed EP in the form of the title track, a nice stew of dreamy psych-pop and krautrock, which can be heard at snd.sc/Zv2Yt3.
Another album from amazing Marling
To be unveiling your fourth album at the mere age of 23 is an almost distressing level of high achievement but that's just what Laura Marling has done. And that's not to mention that the UK singer-songwriter's previous three LPs were all critically adored, award-nominated/winning, high-sellers to boot. Marling's new record, Once I Was An Eagle, lands on 27 May and recently we got the first track from it. Streaming at lauramarling.com, “Where Can I Go?” finds Marling asking that very question in her gorgeously gentle but confident voice.
New versions that improve the original
This week in remixes: while Justin Timberlake will get all the attention when his new album, The 20/20 Experience, arrives on Monday, Four Tet nipped in ahead and knocked out a remix of the singer's track “Suit and Tie”. The Four Tet take on the first single from the LP brilliantly renders it as a intense minimal techno workout. After being leaked before Timberlake's label had approved it, Four Tet then put it on his Soundcloud page and now it's streaming here (snd.sc/Y552eh). Meanwhile, Andy Weatherall has rearranged the first single from Primal Scream's upcoming new album, More Light. The original version of single “2013” was garage rock meets krautrock. Here the producer who helped the band find their seminal sound on 1991's classic Screamadelica, rearranges things into a woozy off-kilter dance track.
