Your support makes all the difference.Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 2015 Oscars this morning, which mostly followed suit with the Golden Globes and were in line with predictions, bar a few surprises...
1. An insane amount of love for American Sniper
Clint Eastwood film about how great being American and shooting people is got both Best Picture and Leading Actor nominations (Bradley Cooper).
This is maybe not that surprising though, given other modern 'Murica war films Zero Dark Thirty (five noms, one win) and The Hurt Locker (nine noms, six wins) were also arguably over-honoured at previous ceremonies.
2. Not even a nomination for The Lego Movie in Animated Feature.
Despite How To Train Your Dragon 2 earning one, and it being about the most-talked about and lauded animated film of the year.

3. "Dick Poop"
Academy representative Cheryl Boone Isaacs had a shocker at the announcement, nominating "Dick Poop" instead of Dick Pope for Cinematography, pronouncing Argentina "Argentinia" and looking forward to honouring the "incredibly incredible" film industry on the night.

4. No lead actor/actress nominations for Boyhood
Meeting a 12 year production schedule is surely deserving of some kind of award.
5. Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice overlooked
Brave Thomas Pynchon adaptation got Writing and Costume Design nods, but no mentions in the main categories.
6. Eddie Redmayne, or "Eddie Redmaybe" as The Guardian accidentally re-christened him in their live blog, being nominated for Best Actor
This comes despite many people feeling he gave a great imitation of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, but not necessarily a great performance.
