From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Star Wars fever has officially taken off with just weeks to go until The Force Awakens hits cinemas and to celebrate, Empire magazine has revealed six exclusive covers dedicated to the year’s most-hyped movie.
Each colourful artwork features a different actor, including Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Daisy Ridley as Rey (with a little help from BB-8), John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as X-wing pilot Poe Dameron, Adam Driver as the villainous Kylo Ren and of course, returning original cast members Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.
Best of all, in print format the covers appear 3D thanks to lenticular technology, giving fans their closet look yet at the costumes, weapons and set.
The more beady-eyed among you will spot that there is a small picture of a vehicle underneath each character’s name. Notably, Finn’s is a TIE-fighter, which alludes to his membership of the evil First Order at the start of the story. Newcomer Boyega is also holding Luke Skywalker’s blue lightsaber.
Empire’s Star Wars issue will reach stores on 26 November, featuring in-depth interviews, with the film arriving in UK cinemas on 17 December.
